Want to play on the Emirates pitch?
This is your chance to realise a dream and play on the hallowed turf at Emirates Stadium while contributing to The Arsenal Foundation that supports projects which give young people a chance to thrive.
Teams can book a spot in the Arsenal Charity Shield, which will take place at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, May 28 from 6pm to 9pm.
The Arsenal Charity Shield, first played at Highbury in the early 1990s, is the Gunners’ traditional end-of-season 11-a-side competition played in a World Cup format.
Arsenal’s Ex-Professional and Celebrity charity team will also be taking part in the competition.
RULES
The tournament is for over-18s only.
The format will consist of two groups followed by a knockout stage. Teams will play each team in their group.
Matches will be reduced in time but all teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 33 minutes of playing time (this is with the maximum number of teams entered i.e. five teams in each group. If we have fewer than five teams per group, playing time on the pitch will be more).
The exact format and competition rules will be circulated to teams when entry is confirmed. The tournament will be run by The Arsenal Foundation’s delivery partner, Arsenal in the Community.
CHARITABLE DONATION AND SELECTION OF TEAMS
Each team will be required to make a donation to The Arsenal Foundation of a minimum of £750 to enter a squad of up to 15 players.
Entries will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
In the event of there being more than 10 teams applying to play, teams who pledge the 10 highest amounts will be selected to play in the competition.
If you are unable to enter a team but you are an individual who would like to play, Arsenal in the Community will endeavour to make a team out of the individual players (numbers permitting) in return for a per player donation of £100.
PRE-MATCH PRESENTATION
There will be a pre-match pitchside presentation at a game next season at Emirates Stadium where two representatives from the winning team will be presented with their trophy and two representatives from the team who raise the most money will present a giant cheque to The Arsenal Foundation.
Please submit your entry and donation with the following information to Beverley Nicholas at Arsenal in the Community (bnicholas@arsenal.co.uk) before Monday, May 19.
