Olivier Giroud dedicated his goal against West Ham United to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
Emirates Stadium paused for a minute’s silence to mark the 25th anniversary of the tragedy before Arsenal’s 3-1 win.
And the Frenchman wanted to pay his own special tribute.
"I heard everybody talking about it before and I didn’t exactly know the story until a few days ago but I just wanted pay homage to them,” said Giroud.
"It’s something which made me feel consoling and I wanted to dedicate my goal to the families involved."
