Mikel Arteta today expressed that he loves to see our players and supporters enjoying victories together.
The boss believes that moments such as those at Emirates Stadium last Sunday should be cherished by all teams across the world, and they should allow positivity and passion to spill out on and off the pitch after gaining a huge result.
And while Mikel is adamant that celebrations should always be respectful, he feels the game needs those examples of emotion to help connect those in the stands with those on the pitch.
“I love it,” he said in his pre-match press conference. “I’ve seen [away] managers at the Emirates on their knees, on the pitch. I’ve seen very big managers walking onto the pitch, I’ve seen managers going across the touchline. I’ve seen that all in the Premier League.
“Personally, I love it because it brings such passion and emotion to the game. When it’s done in a natural and unique way, I think it’s great. It’s my opinion and a lot of people may have something very different to mine.
“When you do something publicly, there are going to be opinions. Some of them are positive, some of them not so positive. That’s our job, to accept all of that and still behave in what you think is the right way to behave and make sure we don’t lose that.
“I see a lot of games, and in game three, game six, game eight, there were managers and teams celebrating a lot, and fans celebrating a lot because it’s so tough to win in this league.”
Mikel felt that the 3-1 win against Liverpool was a result that needed to be savoured, and has revealed that he is still filled with pride of the efforts from all of the players and staff to help clinch a big three points.
He now hopes to use that momentum when we head to West Ham United on Sunday as we aim to win a fourth-straight match to continue our 100 per cent league record in 2024.
Reflecting on last week’s display, he said: “It was a big match for us. You can tell how much it meant from the [first] whistle. You could sense the stadium and the atmosphere were very different already. It was a great day.
“It was an extremely positive reaction from our people, from media, staff, other managers, I got so many texts. When I’m walking in the street it’s pride and a lot of compliments for what we did.”
