Marquinhos' Brazil through to U20 quarter-final

Marquinhos celebrates with Brazil midfielder Savio

Marquinhos and Brazil are just a few steps away from U20 World Cup glory as they flew through to the quarter-finals.

Our winger, who has featured in every match so far in the competition, played 85 minutes of Brazil's win over Tunisia before making way for Palmeiras' Giovane. Marcos Leonardo's early penalty and Andrey Santos' strike gave Brazil a 2-0 lead for the majority of the match before a flurry of late goals made it 4-1 by the final whistle.

The Selecao's quarter-final opponents are Israel who dispatched Uzbekistan 1-0 in the previous round.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy was back in action for England as the Young Lions sadly fell to Italy in the Round of 16. This was Norton-Cuffy's first appearance in the tournament, having travelled to Argentina straight from Coventry City's dramatic play-off loss to Luton Town at the weekend.

Our 19-year-old wing-back was involved for over an hour before being withdrawn. Despite Alfie Devine cancelling out Tommaso Baldanzi's opener, England were unable to gain control of the tie and a late penalty to Italy then sealed their fate.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alexei Rojas was on the bench for Colombia as they booked their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with a convincing 5-1 thrashing of Slovakia. They're now set to face England's vanquishers, Italy, on Saturday, June 3.
