A look back at classic wins against Bournemouth

Reiss Nelson scores against Bournemouth

Bournemouth head to north London this weekend, and while they have only faced us in N5 on seven previous occasions, there have been some memorable matches in that time.

We've dug into the archive to unearth three classic clashes against the Cherries, which showcase some fantastic goals and fine displays from our Gunners.

December 28, 2015
Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth

Following the Cherries' promotion to the Premier League a few months earlier, this was the first-ever league meeting between the teams and it allowed Mesut Ozil to show off some of his magical ability.

The German whipped in a corner for Gabriel Paulista to head home after 27 minutes, and just after the hour mark he played a neat one-two with Olivier Giroud, with the Frenchman nonchalantly flicking the ball back into Ozil's path to produce a composed finish and move us to the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal 3-0 Bournemouth

This was a game to remember for Danny Welbeck, who scored twice to help us secure an early-season victory. The striker got off to a flyer when he netted after just six minutes with a clever header, before he teed up Alexandre Lacazette to bend a fine shot past Asmir Begovic to double the lead.

A third goal arrived on 50 minutes when Aaron Ramsey played a perfect pass into the path of Welbeck, and he tucked it into the far corner to seal the points and complete an all-round display.

Arsenal 5-1 Bournemouth

This game saw us go goal crazy as we put the Cherries to the sword. Things started well when Ozil put us ahead after just four minutes, before he linked up well with Henrikh Mkhitaryan to double the lead, however Lys Mousset swiftly pulled one back to give the visitors hope.

But a fine second-half display ensured a convincing victory was secured. Laurent Koscielny swept in our third, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded Artur Boruc to and Lacazette rattled home a fine free-kick to complete the rout.

Arsenal 3-2 Bournemouth

On one of the most incredible afternoons in Emirates Stadium history, we battled back from two goals down to salvage a win against the Cherries and keep our title bid on track. The game was just nine seconds old when Philip Billing pounced on some complacency to score, and six minutes after the break Marcos Senesi also headed home to give us a mountain a climb.

Fortunately it took us just five minutes to respond when Thomas Partey scored, and that was soon followed up by Ben White's first Gunners goal. We continued to chase a winner but as the clock passed the 96th-minute mark it seemed all was lost, until Reiss Nelson blasted into the top corner to spark wild celebrations all around our home.
