Loan Watch: Patino earns Player of the Match

Patino FA Cup

Charlie Patino was on the scoresheet for Swansea City in the Emirates FA Cup on the weekend.

Getting on the end of a Sam Parker cross at the far post, Charlie notched his fourth goal of the season with Swansea’s opener in Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to Morecambe.

He also won the club’s fan-voted Player of the Match award in his first game under new manager Luke Williams.

Elsewhere last week, Mika Biereth was creating goals as he got two assists in Motherwell’s 2-2 draw away to Hibernian on Tuesday.

After providing a clever reverse pass for Theo Bair to make it 1-1, Motherwell took the lead when Biereth created a chance for Bevis Mugabi.

The result left them ninth in the Scottish Premiership.

On the weekend, there was FA Cup success for Arthur Okonkwo as he kept a clean sheet in Wrexham’s 1-0 win over League One opposition Shrewsbury Town.

There wasn’t as much to celebrate for Nuno Tavares and Sambi Lokonga for Nottingham Forest and Luton Town respectively, who both forced replays in the competition.

Nuno came on at half-time in Forest’s 2-2 draw at home to Blackpool on Sunday, while Sambi played 67 minutes of Luton’s 0-0 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers.

In La Liga, Real Sociedad are sixth with 32 points from 19 games after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at home to Alaves, which Kieran Tierney played 93 minutes of. He also came on in the 79th minute of Sunday’s 1-0 win away to Malaga in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey.

Turning attention to the Vanarama National League, Alex Kirk played 90 minutes of Bromley’s 0-0 draw away to Maidenhead United on Saturday to remain second in the division, six points behind Chesterfield having played three games more.

One tier below, Billy Vigar played 90 minutes of Eastbourne Borough’s 2-2 draw away to Torquay United on the weekend, providing an assist for Decarrey Sheriff’s 93rd minute equaliser to stop their run of defeats. Eastbourne are 21st in the National League South.

Ruby Doe was our only women’s loanee in action last week as she played 79 minutes of Ipswich Town’s 1-0 defeat at home to Oxford United. Ipswich are fourth in the FA WPL Premier Division South, level on points with fifth-placed Oxford.

Lastly, Catalin Cirjan was involved in FC Rapid Bucuresti’s 3-3 friendly draw away to Sakaryaspor on Saturday.
