Loan Watch: Goals for Gunners trio

Brooke goal

Mika Biereth, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Billy Vigar were all on the scoresheet for their respective loan sides last week.

Biereth continued his rich vein of form for Motherwell, scoring the equalising goal of a 2-2 draw at St. Johnstone.

After striking his fourth goal in five games, Biereth played 72 minutes of the weekend’s 2-1 defeat at home to Hearts.

Motherwell are now eighth in the Scottish Premiership but there are just nine points separating third from 12th.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Norton-Cuffy scored the final goal of Millwall’s 4-0 win away to Sheffield Wednesday, his first goal for the club.

The Lions moved up to 15th in the division.

One tier down, Omar Rekik played 90 minutes of Wigan Athletic’s 2-1 win at home to Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

He then played another 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Cheltenham Town. Those four points put Wigan 18th in Sky Bet League One on 18 points.

Overseas, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand played 88 minutes of Friday’s 1-0 defeat away to FC Emmett for FC Den Bosch, who are 18th in Eerste Divisie with 10 points from 14 games.

Meanwhile, Catalin Cirjan came on in the 73rd minute of FC Rapid Bucuresti’s 0-0 draw away to Sepsi to go third in SuperLiga, four points off FCSB at the top.

Arthur Okonkwo played 90 minutes in goal and kept a clean sheet as Wrexham won 2-0 at home to Gillingham on Saturday. Wrexham are now second in Sky Bet League Two.

Eastbourne Borough are 17th in the Vanarama National League South after Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Maidstone United and Saturday’s 3-1 win at home to Braintree Town.

Vigar scored the opening goal in the latter with a glancing header into the far corner.

In the Barclays Women’s Super League, Kaylan Marckese played in goal for 53 minutes of the first half in Bristol City’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, but was forced off with injury.

The Robins are bottom of the WSL, level on points with Villa but with two more goals conceded.

Things are getting interesting in the FA Women’s Championship, where Charlton Athletic have gone top after Sunday’s 2-0 win away to Southampton.

Arsenal loanee Freya Godfrey came on in the 69th minute for the Addicks and got the assist for Melissa Johnson’s 94th minute goal.

Crystal Palace are one point behind Sunderland and Charlton but with a game in hand after their 3-2 win at home to Lewes on Sunday, which Araya Dennis came on in the 58th minute of.
