Loan Watch: Goals galore from Gunners loanees

Mika Biereth celebrates scoring on his debut for Motherwell

There were plenty of goalscorers among our Gunners loanees last week.

Starting with Charlie Patino, who scored the opening goal of Swansea City’s game against Rotherham United, he helped the Welsh side to a 2-1 win to go up to 16th in the Sky Bet Championship.

He now has three goals and four assists in 15 Championship appearances this season.

As for Mika Biereth, after being involved in Motherwell’s 3-0 defeat at Ross County on Tuesday, he headed home the 92nd minute equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to St. Johnstone.

That takes his tally up to five goals in nine Scottish Premiership games this season. Motherwell are 10th in the league, level on points with St. Johnstone but with a better goal difference.

In the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, Laila Harbert scored a hat-trick - her first three goals for the club - in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Southampton.

Sambi Lokonga also returned to Luton Town’s side for Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester City, coming on in the 72nd minute of that game. The Hatters are 18th in the Premier League, currently four points from safety.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Alex Runarsson kept a clean sheet as Cardiff City won 1-0 at home to Millwall on Saturday to go up to seventh, level on points with Sunderland, who are in the play-off places, but with a worse goal difference.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy played 90 minutes of the same game for Millwall, who are 19th in the division.

Wigan Athletic won 2-0 at home to Stockport County in the second round of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Wednesday night. Omar Rekik played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet to advance to the fourth round against Doncaster Rovers.
