Loan Watch: Debuts for Okonkwo and Oulad M’hand

Arthur Okonkwo makes a spectacular save against Crewe Alexandra

Arthur Okonkwo earned his league debut for Wrexham this weekend in their 3-3 thriller with Crewe Alexandra.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was kept busy on his first League Two outing after the Red Dragons went down a goal and a player in the first half when Ryan Barnett was shown a straight red card. Paul Mullin's excellent overhead kick drew Wrexham level before the visitors were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Okonkwo dived the right way but Chris Long's penalty kick snuck under his outstretched glove. More twists and turns awaited in the second half as Mullin equalised yet again after the restart and Okonkwo made a spectacular save to deny Joel Tabiner.

Crewe did take the lead for the third time through Shilow Tracey but Wrexham refused to be beaten - a diving header from Stephen Fletcher making it 3-3 in the dying minutes.

Over in the Championship, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Charlie Patino went head-to-head at the Den as Millwall hosted Swansea City. Norton-Cuffy played the first 45 minutes for the Lions as Patino helped the Swans cruise to a 3-0 away victory.

In La Liga, Kieran Tierney lined up for Real Sociedad in the Basque Derby as his side beat Athletic Club 3-0, but the Scottish defender was forced off through injury in the 25th minute.

In the Women's Championship, academy duo Laila Harbert and Katie Reid played the full game for Watford in a narrow loss against Sunderland. Two first-half goals were enough for the Black Cats to hold on despite a stoppage-time goal from Carly Johns.

Elsewhere in the division, Charlton Athletic put two past London City Lionesses to move up to fifth in the table, with Freya Godfrey making a late appearance off the bench for the Addicks.

Catalin Cirjan made a substitute appearance for FC Rapid Bucuresti in their 1-1 draw with Hermannstadt. Rapid currently sit in fourth position in the Romanian SuperLiga.

In League One, Omar Rekik played 55 minutes for Wigan Athletic as they lost 2-1 to league leaders, Portsmouth. Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, meanwhile, came off the bench for Cheltenham Town in the second half as the Robins were beaten 2-0.

Billy Vigar played 90 minutes for Eastbourne Borough as they lost 2-1 to Taunton Town.
