Loan Watch: Biereth's impact leads late comeback

Gunners loanee Mika Biereth will be delighted with his efforts on the weekend.

Returning from injury, Mika came on in the 75th minute of Motherwell’s Scottish Premiership game against Ross County, his side 2-0 down at the time.

But Mika won a penalty and pulled one back from the spot, before County increased their lead again.

Nevertheless, in the 88th minute, Mika setup Connor Wilkinson to score before Luca Ross added a 94th minute equaliser.

The dramatic comeback saw Motherwell end their run of four straight defeats and get a point on the board to climb to sixth.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Charlie Patino got his fourth assist of the season as Swansea City beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 away from home.

After sitting out of Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Watford, Patino played 71 minutes of Saturday’s win and provided the assist for Liam Cullen’s goal.

Swansea are 13th in the league, fives places above Millwall, who lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn and drew 2-2 at Watford last week. 

Brooke Norton-Cuffy played all of both matches for the Lions, who are without a win in their last four games.

In Sky Bet League One, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji came on in the 46th minute of Cheltenham Town’s 3-2 defeat away to Blackpool on Tuesday, before coming  on in the 55th minute of Saturday’s 2-1 win away to Port Vale.

Cheltenham are 23rd in the league after their second win of the season.

Fighting to get into League One are Wrexham, who continued their fine run of form with a 2-1 win at home to Sutton United and a 2-0 win away to second-placed Notts County last week.

Arthur Okonkwo played all of both games in goal, keeping a clean sheet in the latter, as Wrexham went five points behind leaders Stockport County.

Third in Sky Bet League Two, Wrexham are unbeaten in their last seven league games.

Overseas, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand came on in the 55th minute of FC Den Bosch’s 5-1 defeat away to FC Dordrecht on Friday. The side are now 18th in Eerste Divisie having lost their last four games.

Meanwhile, FC Rapid Bucuresti moved up to third in the Romanian SuperLiga and are unbeaten in their last nine league games following Sunday’s 2-0 win at home to Universitatea Craiova, which Catalin Cirjan came on in the 81st minute of.

Marquinhos wasn't in action for Nantes last week but did feature in Brazil's Pan American Games win against Honduras on the weekend, wearing the captain's armband for the Under-23s, registering two assists in their 3-0 win.

In the National League South, Billy Vigar played 90 minutes of Eastbourne Borough’s 1-1 draw at home to Dartford on Tuesday, but was only able to feature for 28 minutes of Saturday’s 3-3 draw at home to Slough Town. Eastbourne are 20th in the division.

At Under-21s level, Henry Jeffcott played 90 minutes for Derby County as they beat Manchester City 4-2 at home on Saturday. County are 23rd in Premier League 2 Division One after their first win of the season.
