Loan Watch: Assists for Norton-Cuffy and Biereth

It was a happy New Year for Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Millwall, who enjoyed back-to-back 1-0 wins last week.

The Lions won 1-0 at home to Norwich City on Friday, Norton-Cuffy getting the assist for the only goal of the game with a cross into the box, converted by Tom Bradshaw.

The Gunners loanee went onto play 85 minutes of Monday’s 1-0 win away to Bristol City, Shaun Hutchinson securing the three points in the 92nd minute.

The Lions are 15th in the Championship after their third win and fourth clean sheet in a row.

Elsewhere in the league, Charlie Patino came on in the 82nd minute of Swansea City’s 2-2 draw at Coventry City on Friday, Liam Cullen scoring a 93rd minute equaliser for the visitors, before coming on in the 10th minute of Monday’s 1-0 win at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Swansea are now 16th in the Championship.

In the Premier League, Sambi Lokonga was a part of the Luton Town side that almost achieved a memorable comeback against Chelsea.

He played 94 minutes of the game as the Hatters went 3-0 down before strikes from Ross Barkley and Elijah Adebayo saw them hint at a late comeback.

Rob Edwards’ side, who had three more shots than Chelsea in the game, are 18th in the Premier League, one point behind Everton and with a game in hand.

As for Mika Biereth at Motherwell, he played 94 minutes of their 3-1 win at home to Livingston on Saturday, getting the assist for the final goal of the game, scored by Theo Bair. Motherwell rose to eighth in the Scottish Premiership as a result.

It was a week of mixed fortunes for Wrexham in League Two as they lost 3-1 at Walsall before winning 4-1 at home to Barrow, Arthur Okonkwo in goal for both fixtures.

The Welsh side are third in the division, four points ahead of fourth-placed Barrow and two behind leaders Stockport County.

Alex Kirk got himself on the scoresheet for Bromley last week, getting the third goal in Saturday’s 5-1 win at home to Ebbsfleet United to go second in the Vanarama National League, seven points behind Chesterfield having played two games more.

In the National League South, Billy Vigar played the first half of Eastbourne Borough’s 4-0 defeat at home to Worthing on Monday. Eastbourne are now 21st in the league.
