Loan Watch: Amazing Agyemang impact

Michelle loan watch

The day after her 18th birthday, Michelle Agyemang was the one handing out presents with her impact on an important Watford win.

Coming off the bench in the 68th minute with the game against Birmingham City still goalless, Michelle scored both goals of the match in the final 18 minutes to win 2-0.

It was a second win in a row for Watford, who are now 11th with 12 points in the FA Women’s Championship. Gunners loanee Katie Reid also played 90 minutes.

Ruby Doe was our only other women’s loanee in action last week, playing 59 minutes of Ipswich Town’s 1-0 loss at home to league leaders Portsmouth. Ipswich are now fifth in the FA WPL Premier Division South with 22 points.

In men’s football, it was an enjoyable week for Sambi Lokonga at Luton Town. After getting the assist for Chiedozie Ogbene’s goal with a lovely ball over the top in Tuesday’s impressive 4-0 win at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, Sambi went on to play 90 minutes in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Newcastle United on Saturday.

With 20 points, the Hatters are 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone and with a game in hand on 18th-placed Everton.

Nottingham Forest are 16th and two points above the drop zone following Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to AFC Bournemouth, which Nuno Tavares got the full 90 minutes in.

Overseas, there was a successful competitive debut for Mika Biereth at SK Sturm Graz. He scored a volley for the second goal in Friday’s 2-0 win at home to Austria Wien in the quarter-finals of the Austrian Cup.

In the Championship, it was a disappointing week for Brooke Norton-Cuffy as he played 66 minutes of Millwall’s 1-0 loss away to Hull City. The same can be said for Charlie Patino, who came on in the 77th minute of Swansea City’s 1-0 defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle, alongside Charles Sagoe Jr, who was making his debut for the Welsh side.

Millwall and Swansea are 16th and 17th in the Championship respectively, both sides on 33 points.

It was also a week to forget for Arthur Okonkwo and Wrexham, who were eliminated from the Emirates FA Cup with a 4-1 defeat in the fourth round courtesy of Blackburn Rovers on Monday, before losing 3-1 away to Salford City on Saturday.

Wrexham drop down to fourth in League Two but have at least one game in hand on all three teams above them.

Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand returned from injury to play the final half hour of FC Den Bosch’s 0-0 draw at home to Helmond Sport on Friday, going 18th in Eerste Divisie, three points above SC Telstar, who are bottom.

Last but not least, Alex Kirk played 90 minutes of Bromley’s 2-1 loss at home to Hartlepool on Saturday, but Bromley are still second in the Vanarama National League.
