Lino Sousa has joined Aston Villa in a permanent transfer.
The 19-year-old joined our academy in January 2022 from West Bromwich Albion, signing a professional contract on arrival.
The Portuguese born defender enjoyed a promising 2022/23 season, making 28 appearances in all competitions across our academy. The left-back impressed and earned himself a place on the bench for our 3-0 Premier League win away to Brentford back in September 2022.
Lino, an England youth international has started this campaign on similar form. Three goals in 14 appearances for our academy showed why he was once again involved with the men’s team, as he was named a substitute in our FA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool in January 2024. Days after that fixture, Lino was also part of the first team squad that travelled to our Dubai training camp.
