Laia Codina spoke to us after her first north London derby, Wednesday’s 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, which we we won on penalties in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.
“I think that playing against Tottenham in the north London derby is already tough but, after a lot of changes from the last game, I think that we did a good game,” she said. “It was tough but I think that the reaction of the team was so good and it’s something that we have to keep working on because we will need it during the season.
“I think that is something you can feel, that it is something different. The people who have been here for years explain to you how important it is and I’m feeling it also. I think that we have to be proud of our fans. Today was a freezing night and they came here to sustain us so we have to thank them also for their support.
“I think that it’s so important because maybe you do something wrong but they are here, they are there behind you supporting you. We feel it and we are grateful for it.”
On our ability to come from behind, which we demonstrated three times to equalise in the game, Laia said: “It’s what I’m saying, I think that it’s so important. We will need this during the season, the ability to come back.
“We have been doing it in the last games also and I think that is a good mentality of the team and all the people,” she said. “We have to keep working on it because we will need it.
“Now I can feel that I’m settled in and I’m good. It’s a big club and I feel like part of the family and the players are helping me a lot. I can’t wait to keep working on it.”
