As preparations for matches go, it was very different to what the team is used to, but midfielder Jorginho said he enjoyed taking part in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Tuesday.
After five rounds of various skills and technique challenges, we beat the MLS All-Star side 6-5, ahead of the friendly match against the same opposition on Wednesday.
Afterwards Jorginho was all smiles: “It was different!” he said. “It was nice to be honest, it was a good laugh with the boys as well and the energy with the opponents and the energy of the crowd was a completely different experience for me. It was my first time and I enjoyed it.
“For sure [he wanted to win]. I was smiling and inside I was like: ‘come on boys, we need to win this one!’ And then at the end we did, so it was all good. We had a good laugh and we won!”
The preparation for the upcoming Premier League season steps up now though, as we play the first of our three friendly matches on Wednesday in Washington DC, before moving on to New Jersey at the end of the week for a meeting with Manchester United.
He added: “So far it’s been a great trip, we need to keep working hard for the targets we have got. I’m very confident about all the work we’ve been doing, in and out of the pitch, we are on the right path.”
