Jorginho: “Now is the moment to stay focused”

Jorginho says there’s no danger of us taking our foot off the gas after last weekend’s big 3-1 win against Liverpool, a trip to West Ham United up next in the Premier League.

Manchester City are first to play in the title race this weekend as they host Everton for an early 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday, before Liverpool welcome Burnley at 3pm.

We will either have the opportunity to return to the top of the table on Sunday or close the gap on the league leaders.

“Everyone is happy but now is the moment to stay focused and push even more, to go with the good momentum and try to win another game,” Jorginho said.

“It will be a really tough game. They play well there and it’s a hard place to go and win. They showed already that it’s really hard, we’ve been there, and now it’s the moment for us to change things around in our way.”

It’s important to keep cool heads in the title race, not get carried away and keep feet on the ground, and that’s exactly how the team are approaching it.

“I think we need to focus, as I always said, game by game,” Jorginho said. “The Liverpool game is gone now and we need to focus on West Ham and the next one after that and the next one after that.

“If we want to stay in the race, we need to focus on each game and give everything we can in every single game.”
