Internationals: Xhaka scores for Switzerland

Granit Xhaka

We had another two first-team players in international action on Monday. Scroll down to find out how they got on:

Granit Xhaka scored as Switzerland booked their place at Euro 2020 with a 6-1 win over Gibraltar. Cedric Itten, Ruben Vargas and Christian Fassnacht gave the visitors a healthy lead at Victoria Stadium before Reece Styche pulled one back.

Loris Benito and Itten then struck, before Xhaka played a quick one-two with Itten to coolly slot past Dayle Coleing in the Gibraltar goal. The three points mean Switzerland qualify for next summer's tournament as Group D champions, one point ahead of Denmark, who secured automatic qualification after drawing 1-1 with Republic of Ireland.

Lucas Torreira played a key role in Uruguay's 2-2 draw with Argentina in Tel-Aviv. Starting at the base of midfield, the 23-year-old picked out Luis Suarez with an inch-perfect pass in the build-up to Edinson Cavani's opener.

Sergio Aguero then pulled Argentina level but Uruguay responded almost immediately, with Suarez firing home an unstoppable free-kick. La Celeste looked to be heading towards victory in Israel, but Lionel Messi converted from the penalty spot in the second minute of stoppage time to equalise.

We could have another four first-team players in action on Tuesday. Nicolas Pepe's Ivory Coast kick-off the games against Ethiopia at 1pm, before Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock's England Under-21s face Netherlands at 5.30pm.

Bernd Leno's Germany conclude the November internationals with their final Euro 2020 qualifier against Northern Ireland at 7.45pm. Die Mannschaft need a win to qualify for the summer's tournament as Group C champions ahead of Netherlands.
