We had nine Gunners in international action on Tuesday. Read on to find out who was involved and how they fared:
Danielle van de Donk, Dominique Bloodworth and Vivianne Miedema all featured in Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Denmark on Tuesday, as they secured their spot in the 2019 Women’s World Cup qualifying play-off final.
The hosts surprisingly took the lead in the fifth minute after Nadia Nadim converted from the spot, but less than two minutes later, the Netherlands equalised through Lineth Beerensteyn.
Beerensteyn continued to threaten after the break, and deep into stoppage time she scored her second of the evening thanks to Miedema’s assist.
Bloodworth and Van de Donk played the entirety of the fixture, while Miedema was introduced in the 78th minute. Sari van Veenendaal was an unused substitute.
Meanwhile, Lia Walti guided Switzerland to a 1-1 draw with Belgium, meaning they’ll face the Netherlands in the play-off final next month.
Geraldine Reuteler opened the scoring for Switzerland in the 23rd minute, before Tine De Caigny equalised with less than 15 minutes remaining.
However, having previously picked up a 2-2 draw with Belgium on the road, Switzerland secured their spot in the final thanks to away goals. Walti played the entirety of the fixture in central defence.
Jordan Nobbs, Beth Mead and Leah Williamson helped England extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games, as they picked up a 1-1 draw with Australia at Craven Cottage.
Mead regained possession inside the visitors box in the 21st minute and squared the ball to Fran Kirby, who twisted and turned before finding the bottom right corner. But with less than six minutes of normal time remaining, Clare Polkinghome popped up with a header to bring the visitors level.
Nobbs played the entirety of the fixture, while Mead played 62 minutes. Leah Williamson was introduced in the 86th minute.
Katie McCabe and Louise Quinn played 90 minutes of Republic of Ireland’s 4-0 defeat to Poland.
The game was goalless at the break, but second-half strikes from Natalia Chudzik, Gabriela Grzywińska, Ewelina Kamczyk and Ewa Pajor helped the hosts to secure a comfortable victory.
