Internationals: Evans scores in Scotland win

Lisa Evans

Lisa Evans scored as Scotland started their double header of matches against New Zealand with a comprehensive 2-0 win.

Jane Ross gave Shelley Kerr’s side a first-half lead, before Evans made sure of the victory by slotting home from close range after capitalising on a defensive error.

Evans could be in action again on Tuesday, when Scotland face New Zealand at 10am (UK time) as they continue their preparations for the start of their World Cup qualifying campaign in April.

Dominique Janssen was also in action for her country, coming off the bench to help the Netherlands come from behind to beat Denmark in the Algarve Cup. Sari van Veenendaal was an unused substitute.

Pernille Mosegaard-Harder and Frederikke Thogerson had given Denmark the lead but, after Cheyenne van den Goorbergh and Lieke Martens had pulled the Netherlands level, Simone Boye-Sorenson turned the ball past her own goalkeeper in the fourth minute of stoppage time to hand Orange the win in the most dramatic of circumstances.

The Netherlands now sit top of Group C after two games, and play their final group-stage game against Iceland on Monday.
