International Watch: Iwobi, Elneny, Mkhitaryan

Alex Iwobi in action for Nigeria

We’ve had three players in international action so far this week. Scroll down to find out how they got on for their countries.

Alex Iwobi completed the full 90 minutes of Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic. The Super Eagles started sharply and Victor Moses was unfortunate to see his goalbound effort blocked after Iwobi had sprung a quick counter-attack. But, despite Nigeria’s fast start, Tomas Kalas struck midway through the first half to condemn the Super Eagles to a second defeat in five days.

Mohamed Elneny played the duration of Egypt’s 3-0 defeat to Belgium in Brussels. Romelu Lukaku broke the deadlock after 27 minutes with Eden Hazard adding a second moments later, before Marouane Fellaini sealed Belgium’s win in the second minute of stoppage time.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan played the full 90 minutes but was unable to make the breakthrough during Armenia’s goalless draw with Moldova on Monday evening.

Two more first-team players could be in action on Thursday night, when Danny Welbeck’s England face Joel Campbell’s Costa Rica at Elland Road.
