We kicked off 2020/21 by defeating Liverpool 5-4 on penalties in the Community Shield on Saturday evening.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired us into an early lead with a powerful strike from the edge of the area, but Takumi Minamino struck late on and took the game to penalties after 90 minutes.
Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles kept their cool, though, scoring from each of their opening attempts, before Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster struck the bar and gave us the advantage.
David Luiz and Cedric stepped up next and made no mistake, before Aubameyang fired home and secured our 16th Community Shield.
