Havertz scores against France, Jorginho wins again

Kai Havertz celebrates scoring for Germany against France

Kai Havertz got on the scoresheet as Germany continued their preparations for a home European Championships this summer by beating France 2-0.

They were given a perfect start when Florian Wirtz scored after just seven seconds in Lyon, before Kai bagged his eighth international goal on 49 minutes to seal the victory for Julian Nagelsmann’s team.

Wirtz was again involved in the goal, playing in Jamal Musiala who rounded Brice Samba before cutting the ball back to Kai to tap home and continue his fine goalscoring form for club and country, as he played all 90 minutes. They now have another tough friendly against the Netherlands in Frankfurt on Tuesday, while William Saliba will be hoping to get onto the field as France face Chile.

Italy rounded off their time in the United States with a 2-0 victory against Ecuador on Sunday night thanks to strikes from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Barella. Jorginho played 67 minutes of the game in New Jersey, on what was his 52nd appearance for the Azzurri.

Declan Rice is now one cap short of 50 for England but he ended up on the losing side at Wembley as the Three Lions were beaten 1-0 by Brazil. 17-year-old Endrick bagged the only goal of the game nine minutes from time, as Declan played all 90 minutes, with Aaron Ramsdale remaining on the bench.

Our duo will now take on Belgium at Wembley on Tuesday, for whom Leandro Trossard got another 45 minutes under his belt on Saturday as he started their goalless draw against the Republic of Ireland, but the result could have been worse for the Red Devils had Evan Ferguson not missed a penalty.

Martin Odegaard won his 56th cap for Norway and skippered them in a home friendly against the Czech Republic, however his side fell to a 2-1 defeat despite taking the lead through Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb. His teammate Erling Haaland brushed off pre-match injury concerns to play 75 minutes, with Martin coming off 11 minutes later. Norway will be hoping for a better result when they face Slovakia in Oslo on Tuesday.

David Raya played the first half of Spain’s friendly against Colombia at West Ham’s London Stadium, on what was his fourth appearance for his country. Manager Luis de la Fuente opted to test out a number of fringe players during the 1-0 loss, with the goal coming on 61 minutes when Daniel Munoz fired past Raya’s replacement Alex Remiro. Spain now face Brazil on Tuesday in a friendly in Madrid.
