Our under-23s head coach, Kevin Betsy, has left us to join Crawley Town as their new first team manager. Dan Micciche, our under-18s head coach, will join Kevin, as assistant manager, at the League Two club.
Kevin guided our under-23s to third place in the Premier League 2 Division 1 table in the 2021/22 season, winning ten and drawing 11 during the 26-match campaign.
Kevin started his coaching career at Fulham's Academy and joined us from the Football Association where he spent five years working in key roles with England youth teams across multiple age categories. He eventually became England under-18s head coach in September 2020.
Before becoming a coach, Kevin enjoyed an 18 year playing career, making over 400 appearances in English league football.
Dan Micciche led our under-18s to fourth place in the under-18 Premier League South last season, winning 14 and drawing six matches from 26 games played.
Dan joined our Academy in 2018 after spells as manager of England under-16s and under-17s, and MK Dons.
Our Academy Manager, Per Mertesacker, said: “We’re grateful for the work Kevin and Dan have done to manage and develop our under-23s and under-18s. Both have shown outstanding coaching ability so it’s no surprise they’re heading into first team management in the EFL. This is a great opportunity for them, and on behalf of everyone at Arsenal, I’d like to thank them for their service and wish them the very best of luck in the future.”
