We take our pre-season preparation up a notch over the coming days as we face Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Singapore.
Unai Emery faced the media on Wednesday to discuss the two International Champions Cup fixtures and this is what he said:
on how he has found Singapore…
We are settling in very well, working and doing preparation for the two games, against Atletico Madrid and PSG. We worked hard yesterday and Monday and today we reduce a little ahead of tomorrow’s match. The thinking is for continuous hard preparation.
on training in the heat…
Yes, there is a little more humidity and heat. But every player and every coach we have here has the habit of travelling around the world with different weather. For us it is hot, but it is nice.

on facing PSG…
In my career I have worked at different clubs and I am playing against a former club, and for me it is a match that is a little different but I am thinking only of our preparation.
on whether he will take an attacking approach against Atletico…
Each match is different, with Atletico Madrid and PSG the level is bigger [than against Boreham Wood] and it is clear these two clubs don’t have at the moment every player who was at the World Cup. But the level is still big and we play with our capacity today, but we are still waiting on some players who played in the World Cup too. But I am very happy with the work every day and with the performance of the players and tomorrow we are going to prepare to play against Atletico. We are three weeks into our work.
