Interview

Eidevall on vital north London derby victory

We recorded our seventh straight home win in the WSL on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at a sold-out Emirates Stadium.

Our head coach spoke pitchside after the full-time whistle at Emirates Stadium and here is everything he had to say:

on the north London derby win...

Three points is the most important thing but of course, we wanted revenge from the last game against them. I didn't think it was deserved that we lost that game. Today, we had another strong performance and another strong display and it's just nice that we could get the three points.

on whether we had a point to prove today...

We did. I think we can be happy with our performance, except for the last 15 minutes of the game. I think we were letting the scoreline affect us too much. In the way we played here, I think we could have been a little bit braver, kept the intensity up going for the second goal instead but that's learning things.

on returning from the international break with a win...

Oh, yeah, absolutely. Like I said before the game, I think the players have done an incredible job getting ready for this game with many question marks before the game. And we also had players unavailable due to the Gold Cup. So, for us to put on such a good display was very nice to see.

on Beth Mead's performance...

The first touch she has when she sets up for Alessia's goal was very, very good.

on back-to-back sell outs at Emirates Stadium...

They never disappoint. I think we're creating an environment here where people want to belong and they're a massive part of doing that, and the team is a massive part of doing that. The club is another part so that's just beautiful to see and be a little part of. Yeah, let's keep doing that. We have one more game at Emirates left and there is a lot of time, that game is in April. Buy tickets. I think that's going to sell out.
