Mikel Arteta is eagerly anticipating an Emirates Stadium full of Arsenal fans for Tuesday night’s huge Champions League tie.
It’s an 8pm kick-off against Bayern Munich, whose supporters were banned from attending the stadium by UEFA after their last game against Lazio, and the boss is hoping the extra few thousand Gooners inside our stadium can help be a factor in the first leg.
On the size of the occasion, Mikel said in his pre-match press conference: “A lot of passion, emotion and we haven’t had this opportunity for 15 years, so that tells you how special this night is going to be for us so we’re going to have to put everything into every ball to make it happen.”
With the team currently top of the Premier League and in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, there can be no complaints with how we’re set to approach the final two months of the season.
“We’re really enjoying the moment, this is where we want to be,” Mikel said. “We’re in a really good position in the Premier League and we’re in a really good position in the Champions League. We have a big task ahead of us against one of the most successful teams in Europe and that’s the hurdle we have to overcome, and we are looking forward to it.
“We are in a good moment and winning and performing the way we're doing it always helps. It brings a really good spirit and just be focused on the next match. Tomorrow is a big task but we’re really looking forward to it.”
