Our team of Arsenal Legends rolled back the years with a hard-fought penalty shootout victory against Real Madrid Legends on Saturday.
All played their parts in aid of The Arsenal Foundation, and here's a rundown of the former Gunners in action - and their best moments.
Jens Lehmann
What an afternoon for for the former Germany international, making a string of crucial saves in normal time and then making a sharp stop in the shootout from Alfonso Perez before slamming home the winning spot kick himself. Imperious at the back.
Pascal Cygan
After a slightly nervy start with a undercut backless, the French defender was calm and untroubled for much of his match, forming a good understanding with Upson at the heart of the defence.
Matthew Upson
Cool and calm under pressure, the centre back impressed at the heart of the backline despite being up against the likes of Raul and Morientes. Stepped forward in the shootout and confidently converted from the spot.
Chris Whyte
After a late call-up to the squad, the defender came on in the second half and impressed with a series of crucial interceptions, blocks and tackles. A fine performance.
Nigel Winterburn
Having impressed with a titanic display at the Bernabeu in June, the full-back was his usual energetic presence on the left - although he took a kick to the ankle that seemed to trouble him during the second half. Another faultless display.
Ray Parlour
Stationed in central midfield, the Romford Pele was at the heart of the action and one bit of first-half combination play with Pires brought the crowd to its feet. Showed the energy and heart for which he was known throughout his playing days.
Tomas Rosicky
A typically classy display from the former Czech international, who buzzed around and caused problems for the Real backline. Went close to opening the scoring at the start of the second half with a shot from the edge of the area. Was denied the chance to take the winning penalty by Lehmann, though!
Robert Pires
What a display, what a player he remains. Showed some beautiful touches throughout, and brought the crowd to its feet on more than one occasion with his surges forward from midfield. Combined well with his fellow Frenchman, Aliadiere, and always looked most likely to make something happen.
Gilberto Silva
Known as the Invisible Wall during his time with us, the Brazilian is a classy operator and showed his enduring quality with some well-timed tackles and incisive passes forward. Had the best chance of the first half with a powerful volley that was well saved by Cesar Sanchez.
Luis Boa Morte
Never shy about putting himself about, the Portuguese made a couple of meaty challenges and also stretched the Real Madrid backline with his pace. Had an early chance that he put wide of the near post, but remained a threat throughout until he came off in the second half.
Davor Suker
He may not have the same mobility as at his pomp, but the Croatian showed some deft touches and came close to soaring with a looping header back across the face of goal that was headed off the line.
Jeremie Aliadiere
The youngest member of the Arsenal side, and it showed as he showed real pace and quality - whether at right back in the first half, or up front after the interval. Came close to settling matters near the end with a fine run and shot that was palmed away by the keeper.
David Hillier
Stepped off the bench to play in an unfamiliar right-back role, and didn’t put a foot wrong - although Jose Emilio Amavisca may not agree after being on the receiving end of a mistimed challenge from the Arsenal man…
Perry Groves
Got a huge cheer from the home fans after his introduction off the bench, but didn’t have much time to impress.
Anders Limpar
The original Super Swede seemed to be carrying a knock when he came on right near the end, and did not have the chance to set off on one of his trademark runs up the left flank this time around.
Stefan Schwarz
The Swedish midfielder came on towards the end and showed some nice touches.
