All you need to know about the A-League All Stars

A league women

Ahead of Friday’s friendly against A-League All Stars Women, find out more about our Australian opponents.

The A-League All Stars fixture was founded in 2013 for men’s football, but this year represents the first time that they have a women’s team.

This year’s A-League All Stars team will be managed by Arsenal supporter and former Gunners manager Joe Montemurro, who led our team between 2017 and 2021.

Joe

Joe won the League Cup in his first season with us and the WSL title in his second campaign; it was our first in seven years at the time. He has since managed Juventus.

Among the 19-player squad he has selected, Gooners will spot another recognisable face in goalkeeper Lydia Williams, who made 11 domestic league appearances for us between 2020 and 2022 before moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

LW

The squad includes the best local talent and legendary Matildas from the Liberty A-League Women, such as Cortnee Vine, Michelle Heyman, Tameka Yallop, Alex Chidiac, Elise Kellond-Knight and Kyah Simon, who has WSL experience against us for Tottenham Hotspur.

The match kicks off at 11.05am BST (8.05pm) local time at Marvel Football Stadium and you can watch all the action live on Arsenal.com or the official app by tuning in ten minutes before the start of the game.
