England international Ainsley spent the second half of last season on loan to West Brom in the Premier League, making 12 appearances for the Baggies.

He began the season by winning the Man of the Match award in the Community Shield win over Liverpool and scoring a penalty in the shootout. In fact he has an excellent record in penalty shootouts, also converting with his trademark laid-back style in the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool in October 2020.

Hugely versatile and blessed with blistering pace, Ainsley has been at the club from the age of six, working his way through the system before making his debut shortly after his 17th birthday.

Able to play at full back on both sides of the pitch, he prefers to operate in central midfield.
