Dan Carter is keen to issue an immediate response when Arsenal Ladies return to Continental Cup action on Friday evening.
Pedro Martinez Losa’s side face Notts County in the quarter-final at the Hive, but go into the tie off the back of a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Women’s Super League.
However, with Arsenal now just two wins from a place in the final, fit-again Carter is aiming to quickly put Sunday’s loss to one side with victory over the Lady Pies.
“[The Liverpool defeat] wasn’t what we planned for,” she told Arsenal.com. "We were all disappointed after that result, but this is a one-off game.
“It’s going to be completely different to the league game we played a couple of weeks back and we need to just forget what happened and go into the game being optimistic. We’ve just got to go again, regroup and prepare for the game against Notts County.”
The Gunners picked up the three points in a 2-0 victory when the two sides last met in July, with Friday’s meeting set to be the fourth time the two have faced each other this season, and Carter is more than aware of Notts County’s threat as Arsenal look to take a step closer to retaining their trophy.
“Notts County are a good side,” the England forward said. "They've got pace up front and they're a good team all-round, we know what they're going to come at us with. We’ve got to be on top of our game and perform.”
“At Arsenal you want to win every trophy possible. We’ve got the FA Cup already this season so now we want to retain the Continental Cup. Obviously, doing a double is in our plans. We always want to win everything on offer so we’re really looking ahead to the game.”
