Tonji Akinoal's own goal gave Arsenal’s Under-18s a 1-0 win against West Ham United at London Colney on Tuesday.
The defender deflected Yassin Fortune’s drilled cross past his own goalkeeper to give the Gunners the only goal of a tightly-contested game.
Former Gunner George Dobson had an early chance when he capitalised on a defensive error and went through on goal, but Hugo Keto – who had come in for Ryan Huddart – made a fine save to deny him.
Arsenal took the lead though, when Akinoal could only turn Fortune’s low cross into his own net to secure all three points for Frans de Kat’s side.
