Arsenal Ladies continued their ominous climb up the Women’s Premier League table with an 8-0 thrashing of Bristol Academy.
Kim Little was the chief tormentor with a brace while Jayne Ludlow, Katie Chapman, Gemma Davison, Helen Lander, Jennifer Beattie and Danielle Carter were also on the scoresheet.
The champions were three goals up at the break. Little broke the deadlock from the penalty spot, Ludlow’s turn and shot made it 2-0 and Lander headed home a Davison cross.
Davison followed that assist with a goal of her own, firing past the Bristol keeper from outside the box. Chapman scored the fifth with a header from Little’s corner and the Scottish striker grabbed her second of the match moments later.
Beattie and Carter scored in quick succession near the end to round off a good day’s work for Arsenal and leave them seven points behind leaders Sunderland – with seven games in hand.
