After a delayed start to the season due to the European Championship in Finland, the Arsenal Ladies finally got their campaign up and running, with their first game a League Cup tie against a young, battling Watford side.
The Hornets gave holders Arsenal an early shock, as Sally Wade converted a penalty after only 3 minutes. But it took only another 4 minutes before the Gunners were level through a superb Kim Little strike.
The Gunners began to relax and dominate the gam,e and looked sharp in the attacking half with several chances being created. Arsenal finally went ahead after 26 minutes through Kim Little, giving the Gunners a 2-1 lead at half time.
Arsenal continued where they had left off after the break and got straight at Watford, putting pressure on them all over the field. On-form Little then rounded off her hat-trick after 55 minutes. Helen Lander added the fourth goal against her former club in stoppage time, calmly slotting the ball past the oncoming keeper.
