Arsenal Ladies took on Sheffield Ladies in an exhibition game at
the Bright Finance Stadium on Wednesday evening as part of
Sheffield FC's 150th anniversary celebrations and ran out
eventually 12-0 winners.

Arsenal brought along their first-team with only Mary Phillip
missing from the nine England players that had been selected for
the FIFA 2007 Women's World Cup next month in China earlier in
the same day. However Sheffield FC Ladies held strong early on in
that game and can proudly claim to keeping the European Cup and
Premier League champions at bay for 20 minutes.

Nigel Hughes, Sheffield FC Ladies coach, said: "It was a
fantastic occasion and a great advertisement for ladies
football.

"Arsenal conducted themselves very professionally and were
determined to play the game as best they could. They certainly took
it seriously with the amount of internationals in their side and we
did very well to keep the score goalless for more than 20
minutes.

"The Arsenal manager spoke with us after the game and
praised our players' performance, particularly our goalkeeper
Caz Whiteman who was outstanding."

Please note that due to the Women's World Cup in China
and the inclusion of nine Arsenal players in the travelling
squad, Arsenal's league campaign will be
subject change. Fixtures are set to be
confirmed near the end of September. As ever Arsenal.com will
keep you up-to-date with any amendments.
