Arsenal Ladies wrapped up their fourth successive league title
with a comprehensive 5-1 win at Chelsea, guaranteeing that they
will once again play in Europe next season.
Fresh from their European victory they hit Chelsea early on,
scoring courtsey of Lianne Sanderson on two minutes. Yankey then
doubled the lead two minutes later after Kelly Smith played a
perfectly timed ball, slicing open the Chelsea defence, for the
onrunning Yankey to slot home first time.
Katie Chapman then continued her fine goal scoring form from
midfield adding two each side of half time, before Sanderson added
her second of the match firing in from six yards after a great
cross from Carney from the right.
The win meant they collected their third trophy of the season,
after success in the FA Premier League Cup and the London County
Cup, collecting an unbelieveable +100 goals goal difference so far
with still Chelsea (2nd May), Everton (9th May) and then
Leeds (20th May) left to play.
The ladies also have the FA Cup Final against Charlton on 7th
May to look forward to.
