Ryo Miyaichi

Japanese winger Ryo left Arsenal in June 2015 after four years with the club.

He signed for Arsenal in January 2011 after a successful trial period, having previously played high-school football - a competition taken very seriously in Japan - in his home country.

Shortly after arriving, he joined Dutch giants Feyenoord on loan, scoring three times in 12 appearances. While he was there, the Dutch media gave him the nickname ‘Ryondinho' after comparing him to Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

He played five times for the first team and started both of the team's Capital One Cup ties but struggled to make a breakthrough into the senior side.

The lightning-quick wideman, whose speed complements fine close control and technical ability, spent the 2012/13 season on loan at Wigan Athletic, but found his opportunities limited through injury.

The previous year, he had spent five productive months with Bolton Wanderers, underlining his rich potential and giving him valuable experience of Premier League football.

He made his full international debut for Japan against Azerbaijan at the end of that season, having previously represented them at all levels from Under-15 to Under-19.
