Gerry Keyser was a little-known Dutchman when he pitched up at Highbury from Margate in 1930.
During his brief spell in an Arsenal shirt, the goalkeeper made 12 league appearances under Herbert Chapman in the Club's title-winning 1930/31 season. While the team were setting records for their goalscoring, Keyser was keeping the opposition out - for the first part of the season at least.
The goalkeeper made his final Arsenal appearance in a 1-1 draw with West Ham in October 1930, making way for Bill Harper for the remainder of Arsenal's all-conquering season.
Eventually Keyser was transferred to Charlton Athletic in July 1931 and later played for Queens Park Rangers before moving back to his native Holland with Ajax. It was there where he won two caps for his national side in 1934.
