Colin Addison was an accomplished goal-scoring inside-forward who flickered but then faded at Highbury.
Arsenal were in the doldrums when he signed from Nottingham Forest in September 1966 but hopes were high that Addison's technical ability could lift Bertie Mee's team. After all, their new buy had built up a fine reputation after a string of skilful displays at the City Ground. He left the East Midlands with a record of 62 goals in 160 league appearances.
Addison was a versatile player, playing in midfield as well as inside-forward. Unfortunately, injuries hampered him during his spell in North London and he never enjoyed a settled run in the side as a result.
He did score in three consecutive victories in September 1967 and finished up with a record of one goal in every three games for the Club, but Addison could not quite establish himself and moved to Sheffield United after little over a year with Arsenal.
He went on to enjoy a long and varied career in management which included spells in Spain, South Africa, Kuwait and Qatar. Addison was also player-manager of Hereford during their FA Cup run in 1971/72, which included their famous win over Newcastle United.
