Iceland international keeper Alex kept clean sheets in half of his four Europa League games in the 2020/21 season, as well as remaining unbeaten after coming off the bench for his Premier League debut away to Wolves in February 2021.

Arsenal won all four Europa League games he played during his debut season, after signing from French Ligue 1 side Dijon.

Previously with Reykjavik in his home country and Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Alex – who is excellent with the ball at his feet – has been a full international since making his debut in November 2017, aged 22. Last season he was on loan to Belgian side OH Leuven, and this season is on loan at Cardiff City.
