WHAT HAPPENED
We maintained our place at the top of the table on Sunday as we beat Reading 3-0 at Adams Park.
Vivianne Miedema struck twice as she netted for the seventh consecutive game, while Kim Little scored a stunning goal of the season contender, ensuring we’re now unbeaten in each of our last 10 fixtures across all competitions.
However, it was the hosts who started as the stronger side - and they had a golden opportunity to open the scoring when former Gunner Fara Williams pounced on a defensive error to race through on goal. Thankfully, Manuela Zinsberger was quick off her line to produce an exceptional save at the near post.
The Royals continued to press high up the pitch, but we maintained our composure and shortly after grabbed our reward, with Miedema breaking behind their defence and delivering a deft chip over the onrushing Grace Moloney.
Little then went on to double our advantage in spectacular fashion, combining with Leah Williamson and Jordan Nobbs on the edge of the area, before controlling the ball on her chest and firing a stunning volley into the top left corner.
We continued to push forward in the second 45, with Danielle van de Donk and Beth Mead coming close, but it wasn’t until the final minute that we grabbed our third, as Miedema latched on to Van de Donk’s long ball and chipped Moloney for the second time.
