WHAT HAPPENED

Joel Ideho scored his first goal for our under-18s as we were beaten 4-1 by Norwich City on the road.

Ken Gillard’s side came into this fixture without a league win in three, while the hosts had scored 14 goals in their last four appearances.

Full of confidence, Norwich made a strong start and found themselves ahead after just three minutes, with Tony Springett cutting inside from the right and finding the far corner.

Thomas Dickson-Peters then went on to double their advantage shortly after, converting at the far post following a searching delivery from Jon Rowe, before making it three on the stroke of half-time.

Zach Awe was forced into making a last-ditch tackle that tripped Norwich’s No 10 - and Dickson-Peters duly converted from the spot too.

Following the restart, Ideho looked sharp on the left wing, looking to charge at the hosts at every opportunity, and he somehow saw his curling effort from 20 yards tipped behind for a corner.

But with a quick switch of play and a direct run from Rowe, Norwich were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon, as Awe stepped in with a late challenge.

Rowe stepped up to convert from 12 yards, but he was denied by an outstanding double save from Hubert Graczyk.

Abu Kamara went on to make it four with just 20 minutes remaining, though, providing the finishing touch to a well-worked team move.

Ideho reduced the deficit late on with an impressive dummy and composed finish, but it was ultimately too little too late.
