Having picked up our club-wide award earlier in the week, Martin has added another trophy to his collection after being deemed to have netted the best strike in the division last month.

Martin’s magic moment came in the 32nd minute of the game against Forest at Emirates Stadium. Noni Madueke floated a corner into the box which was headed clear by Chris Wood to the edge of the D, but Martin was waiting with intent.

With a flash of his right boot, he volleyed it back towards goal and watched it swerve out of the reach of Matz Sels to crash into the net and get his Gunners goal tally up and running in style.

That beat off competition from teammate Gabriel Martinelli for his late lob against Manchester City, as well as Liverpool's Ryan Gravenberch's strike against Everton, Anton Stach's free-kick in Leeds United's win at Wolves, Tyrick Mitchell's winner for Crystal Palace against West Ham United, Harry Wilson's effort during the west London derby between Fulham and Brentford and the Bees' Igor Thiago’s effort against Manchester United.

It is the first time we have won the Premier League prize since December 2021 when Alexandre Lacazette rounded off a sensational team move against Southampton to claim the silverware, and is just our third triumph since the award was created in 2016, with Aaron Ramsey’s memorable strike against Fulham in October 2018 the other successful strike.

On what was a stellar month for Gunners goals, Martinelli took some comfort in winning the Match of the Day monthly poll, while Olivia Smith took home the WSL Goal of the Month award for her sensational long ranger against London City Lionesses - watch them all again below
