The reusable pint cup has been a regular fixture at Emirates Stadium matchdays since it was introduced back in 2019. Initially, the cups were part of a trial that we led, along with Sky Sports and a small number of other football clubs. Following the successful trial, the scheme has been running at Emirates Stadium ever since and has grown to the extent that we now use nearly 50,000 cups for every game here.
In fact, you may have noticed the introduction this year of even more cups, as we work closely with all our drinks partners – Asahi, Guinness, Athletic and Coca-Cola – to continue the good practices we have honed over the last seven years to ensure we are using as few single-use plastic cups as possible.
To make this scheme a sustainability success, it is vitally important that we can collect all the cups at the end of the game, so they can be washed by our friends at RECUP. There are plenty of cup collection points across all levels of the stadium – in fact we have recently increased our cup collection points around the concourse to help with the collection process. These new tubes are wall-mounted to make it easier to return your cups.
So, when you have finished your refreshing drink from one of our partners, please do return the cup – and don’t put it in the bins. This way we can continue to use the cups at future matches and ensure we are being as sustainable as we possibly can be.
Thanks to all of our supporters who have embraced the scheme – you’re already cup winners.
