When we recycle Arsenal kit at the club, we always make sure a large consignment heads out to Bore for the workers on our Arsenal Forest replanting scheme and also for the two football teams we support there, the Bore Lions and Bore Lionesses. As you can see, the Lionesses received a full home kit from last season and the Lions are now kitted out in the third kit from 2024/25.
In our stock of old kit, we also found a box full of football boots and goalkeeper gloves used by Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe – you can see our Lionesses keeper Loice Halima Kalama actually wearing a pair of Anneke’s black gloves, giving them a new lease of life making saves in eastern Africa!
The Lions and Lionesses also act as ambassadors in the region and are pictured planting trees at the Bore Singwaya Primary School, before both teams went on to play the annual Neem Cup. The men, who were the defending champions, lost in the final to Boda Boda FC and the women lost in the final to Mainswitch FC, narrowly missing out on a hat-trick of victories.
