William Saliba was the first of our international players to make it through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup as France won 1-0 against Paraguay on Saturday.
He played 90 minutes of a hard-fought victory, keeping a clean sheet to ensure Kylian Mbappe’s 70th-minute penalty was enough to separate the two sides.
Saliba also recorded a pass accuracy of 95%, made 11 defensive contributions and completed five recoveries. His nation have only conceded two goals in the tournament so far.
In the quarter-final, France will take on Morocco at 9pm UK time on Thursday, July 9 in Boston Stadium.
