Arsenal up for green awards double

Arsenal Football Club has been committed to reducing its impact on the planet for many years.

On these Sustainability pages over the past three seasons, you have hopefully enjoyed reading about the work we have been doing to make our club as sustainable as possible.

And it appears that others have been noticing, because we have been shortlisted for two awards to celebrate the sustainable work that we have undertaken.

On Monday, October 6, the BBC host their Green Sports Awards. This event brings together athletes, sporting events, national governing bodies and clubs that have been pivotal in bringing sustainability and environmental action into sport.

We have been nominated for the Pioneer award, a category in which we face stiff competition from the likes of Formula E, Sport England and London Marathon. It is great to see our former player Hector Bellerin also nominated for the Global Champion award.

We have also made the shortlist in the Sport Positive Awards, which are also being held next week. Our nomination is recognition for our championing of the Science Based Targets initiative, which we launched in 2024 and in doing so became the first football club in the world to have our emission reduction targets formally verified. These awards represent another exciting opportunity for us to highlight the work that we are doing as we aim to inspire our fans and other clubs in joining us on our sustainability journey.
