Arsenal Forest 2’s first trees go in

Sustainability Forest 2

Our team of tree planters in Bore report that they’ve finished the hard work of digging the holes on the second Arsenal Forest site and the rains have started, which means one thing – it’s time to get the spades out and kick off the planting.

After the seedlings were transported to the site, they were carried across the planting area and grouped together prior to planting, which prevents evaporation of the moisture in their roots. Then the very first seedlings were planted on our newly cleared 12-acre site.

Much of the work at the Arsenal Forest is done by our female workforce, and the very first seedling on this new site was planted by Salome Jumwa Muzungu, with her colleague Florence Farida Nzai hot on her heels by plugging in the second sapling at our new planting area.

The seedlings needed to be planted as fast as possible while the rains continue – these days the seasons are lot less predictable than they were. Luckily, members of our two football teams, the Bore Lionesses and the Bore Lions, were keen to lend a hand to get the precious baby Neem in the ground.
