We had two players in action in Tuesday’s World Cup last-16 fixtures.

Scroll down to find out how they got on:

David Ospina saved in the shoot-out but was unable to prevent Colombia losing to Danny Welbeck’s England on penalties in the last-16. After a goalless first half, Harry Kane sent Ospina the wrong way from the spot to give the Three Lions the lead on the hour mark, but Yerry Mina powered home Juan Cuadrado’s corner in third minute of stoppage time to take the game to extra-time.

With neither side able to find the net after an additional half-hour, the game went to a penalty shoot-out. Despite Ospina diving to his left to keep out Jordan Henderson from 12 yards, Mateus Uribe and Carlos Bacca’s misses allowed Eric Dier to send Gareth Southgate’s side into the quarter-finals.

Welbeck was an unused substitute but has another chance to feature when England face Sweden in the last eight on Saturday (3pm - UK time).

In Tuesday’s early kick-off, Stephan Lichtsteiner was suspended but Granit Xhaka played the full 90 minutes as Switzerland were knocked out of the tournament by Sweden. In the end it took Emil Forsberg’s deflected strike to separate the sides and deny our Swiss duo a place in the quarter-finals.
