After being involved in 24 goals in his last 24 appearances, it is easy to see why Alexis is enjoying his new role as a striker.
The Chile forward’s hat-trick against West Ham United took his tally to 13 goals this campaign, putting him well on the way to at least matching last season’s 25 strikes.

There is still a debate to be had about whether Alexis is more effective as a winger or a centre forward but, as far as Arsène Wenger is concerned, the Premier League’s leading goalscorer is perfectly suited to leading our front line.
“He has all the ingredients that you want for a centre forward,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “We all would love his qualities to play there. And I think as well, now, he is convinced that it’s his best position and in every game he has that as well.
“He maintains that focus and will always kill you when he can. He can always deliver something special because he can dribble, has a short backlift, and he has pace. So that’s why it’s interesting.”
So, does Wenger think there is still more to come from Alexis as a striker?
“Honestly, yes,” he said. “But if he maintains that kind of performance, I’m already happy!”
