Granit Xhaka says beating Manchester United in the Champions League was the best moment of his career so far.
The Switzerland international was playing for hometown club Basel in 2011, when they came up against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in the group stage.
The final match saw Basel defeat Manchester United and beat them to a place in the last 16, and Xhaka has fond memories of that game.
“I think [the best moment of my career] was a game against Manchester United for Basel,” he told Arsenal Player. “We played in Manchester and drew 3-3, then we played at home and won 2-1 to knock them out and progress to the next round.
“It was big. Basel were a smaller club than Manchester United and to beat them 2-1 was a very nice moment.”
